Off Ice Training Class will work to improve balance, core strength, flexibility, & agility.

To offer the off ice class, 5 SKATERS MUST REGISTER. SKATERS WILL NEED SNEAKERS, A JUMP ROPE AND A SPINNER.

 

 

Figure skating, because of its speed, and the intricacy of its movements, depends on building “muscle memory” through constant practice and repetition. It takes time, effort, skilled teaching, and quality practice to develop muscle memory.   Skaters’ commitment to practicing is also essential for them to progress in the sport. The ratio of lesson to practice is the same as with most learning activities, 1 to 2.

Please attend class ready to learn and with a positive, respectful attitude. Being ready to learn includes your state of mind as well as your skating attire. Higher level skaters are expected to be able to tie their own ice skates. They should come to class dressed in athletic type clothing, hair pulled back in a pony tail or bun and have appropriate skate socks.

TO EARN A SOLO IN THE SHOW

¨ To receive a SOLO in the JUNE SKATING SPECTACULAR, you must have completed testing as of 4/1/2020.  Freestyle & classes must have been participated in from September 2019.

 

Soloists must have passed Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field and skate 1 day of Bridge/Elite and 1 hour of Freestyle per week.

(Freestyle can be substituted for a second day of Bridge/Elite for the session.)

Freestyle day & time must be selected at the start of each session.

 

If a Soloists has passed Intermediate Moves in the Field, they must skate 3 hours a week of Freestyle. Freestyle days and times must be selected at the start of each session. Freestyle ice must be purchased at the start of each 10 week session and cannot carry over to the next session.

freestyle package for 3 hours of freestyle per week for 10 week session: $480

 

¨ To participate in our HOLIDAY SHOW, held in December, skaters must have take private lessons from an on staff coach.  You will need to take private instruction in order to have your solo choreographed.  Music is the choice of the skater.  To secure your selection of music, tickets must be purchased.

¨ Class assignments are subject to change as per the Skating Director.

Pre-Preliminary Test Prep

This class will focus on patterns and technique necessary to pass your pre-preliminary moves in the field test. skaters must be basic 6 or higher to participate.

Axel Workshop

The Axel workshop is open to skaters who can land a loop jump and have a beginner back spin and are not yet CONSISTENTLY landing an axel jump. The axel is the jump that many skaters struggle to land. mastering an axel can be a pivotal point in a skater’s career. this class will focus on the technique of an axel and will include drills and exercises related to the PREPARATION, take off, rotation and landing of the jump. other skills incorporated in the class will include waltz jump, loop jump, back spins and landing position.

Spin Clinic: So your Change Foot Spin is making you dizzy and your Attitude Spin is giving you attitude! From Two-Foot Spins to Camel and Sit Spins, this clinic will help you master posture, position, & power. Refine your current spins, be introduced to new spins, learn to use different arm and leg positions, & creative entrances.

Jump Clinic: Are you anxious about your Axel? Do you wish for a Waltz Jump? Is your Loop jump making you loopy? Whether you are working on your Bunny Hop or your Salchow, this clinic will help you achieve your jumping goals!

Stroking, Conditioning & Footwork Clinic: Every skater should experience a Stroking, Conditioning & Footwork clinic. This clinic will focus on building speed,power, endurance and technique. During Footwork & Choreography, learn how to mix new & accomplished skills together in creative ways while skating to a variety of fun music. These skills are important to all aspects of skating. This clinic will not only build your muscles, it will build your confidence!

Stoking, Conditioning & Footwork Clinic: Monday, January 21st

Winter Show Case

Saturday, December 7th, 2019

Current Pavilion freestyle and/or members of north jersey figure skating club are invited to skate a solo! All skaters may only perform a duet or solo routine, not both. Musical selection will be secured when the skater's have purchased their tickets. all skaters must remain back stage for the entirety of the show. 

program length must be 1 minute and 30 seconds for skaters who have not tested or are working on pre-preliminary & preliminary moves in the field. program length can be up to 2 minutes for skaters who are working on higher tests. 

 guest tickets must be purchased by november 28, 2019. guests two years old or younger do not require a ticket.

YOUR SKATERS ASSIGNED SHOW TIME WILL BE BASED UPON REGISTRATION

THE SHOW WILL FEATURE SKATE SCHOOL STUDENTS PERFORMING CHOREOGRAPHED ROUTINES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THEIR SKILL LEVEL.  ELITE & BRIDGE TRAINING SOLOISTS, ELITE & BRIDGE TRAINING GROUPS & PAVILION PROFESSIONAL STAFF WILL BE SHOWCASED.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ALL SKATE SCHOOL PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF A CLASS TIME CHANGE STARTING IN MARCH.

$210 SHOW FEE INCLUDES ONE COSTUME, 4 TICKETS, video of the skate show & DRESS REHEARSAL PRACTICE.  

SHOW FEE IS DUE NO LATER THAN JANUARY 11TH, 2020

($30 LATE FEE, IF COSTUME IS STILL AVAILABLE TO ORDER PAST DEADLINE.)

COSTUME MEASUREMENTS WILL BE TAKEN UPON PAYMENT. ADDITIONAL TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT A LATER DATE.
